Deadly Tsunamis Hit Various Parts of the World

At least 384 people died as a result of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi). Looking back, there are at least five deadly tsunamis that have hit various parts of the Earth.

The latest data submitted by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of 1:00 p.m., stated that so far 384 people have died. Another 540 people were injured and 29 people were reported missing due to the earthquake and tsunami.

The number of victims is expected to continue to increase because the evacuation process is still ongoing.

It should be noted that the devastating tsunami that hit Palu was triggered by underwater landslides due to the earthquake shock of 7.4 Magnitude centered in Donggala. The earthquake in Donggala was caused by a shift in the Palu-Koro Fault which was very active and indeed occurred every year.

In addition to Central Sulawesi, a deadly tsunami was known to have crashed and devastated Aceh in 2004. Before that, other deadly tsunamis were recorded in Japan, Chile, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
