Google does not want to be involved in politics

- Google has just issued an unexpected decision. The internet search giant decided not to accept political ads on Adsense services.

This was revealed by the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Rudiantara. The information was obtained when he met Google Asia Pacific President Karim Temsamani at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN which took place in Hanoi, Vietnam.

He explained further, there were several things discussed during his meeting with Karim. Initially, they talked about education to improve human resources.

Then, both continued to discuss other things that were not less important. Google said, it had decided not to accept political advertising.

This decision is indeed quite surprising. The reason is, a number of countries enter the political year, one of which is Indonesia in 2019.

"This is a policy from Google that was taken not to enter politics. I appreciate what Google will do," said Rudiantara when met after the launch of the launch of Go-Viet in Hanoi, Vietnam, Wednesday (12/09/2018).

Upon Google's decision, the MCIT will discuss the same thing with other platform owners. This was done as soon as possible because the company, headquartered in Mountain View, California, United States, will immediately carry out the decision.

"The focus is on addressing fake news that is likely to circulate political ads," concluded Rudiantara.
