The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) noted that there were 384 people killed in the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi. BNPB said the tsunami in Palu had reached a height of five meters.
"We found a tsunami that reached five meters high. We got reports that there were people who saved people by going up to trees that were nearly 6 meters high," said BNPB Head of Information and Public Relations Center Sutopo Purwo Nugroho in his office, Jalan Pramuka, East Jakarta , Saturday (09/29/2018).

BNPB will coordinate with tsunami experts from ITB, LIPI, BPBD, and other agencies to go back to the location to register. So that the results of this data collection can be learning for the community.
"How high is the tsunami, how are the factors causing it, then it becomes learning in the future," he said.
He added, Donggala and Palu had a long history of disaster. The earthquake and tsunami that occurred on Friday (28/9) yesterday was not the first event to occur.
"So the fault, the broken hammer of the koro which divides Sulawesi into two, is very active. Every year it always shifts from 35 to 45 mm per year. One time, a certain period they will be released, an earthquake will occur," Sutopo said.
Previously reported, the tsunami in Palu occurred with a water level of about 0.5 to 1.5 meters. While in Donggala, the tsunami height was about 0.5 meters.
The latest news, there were 384 people killed as a result of this incident. In addition there were 540 people who were injured and were being treated in several hospitals. There were also 29 missing people.
